Running Safari on Linux?
I must say before anything else that this is not guide to installing Safari on Linux. You can find one for installing Safari under wine
here.
I want to ask if anyone has had success with this guide? I tried it and apart from succesfully loading the default home page I havent managed to load any other webpage - not even google - with it and the window has really bad graphical glitches all the time…
I would personally like to get this browser to run under Linux just to test my site with it - specially since one commenter here posted a claim that this site does not show correctly on Safari. So if anybody has had success just let me know what version of wine and safari you have and what extra measures you had to take, if any, to get it work correctly.

Safari runs on Wine, you just need corefonts, but https doesn’t work yet. See

Safari uses KHTML, so testing under Konqueror should show pretty closely what Safari would look like. I used that to quash a bug reported by a Safari user a year or so ago. Also - google for “web browser screenshot” or similar; there are websites which automate loading your page in various browsers, taking screenshots, and displaying them to you.

@Dan Kegel
I believe that I infact have corefonts - the problem with (latest) safari is that I cant load any other than homepage (efault).
@Seve Parker
Thanks for a lot of help - I will try one of these days..

@Steve Parker
Hmm, I think Safari actually uses a system base on KHTML, but I might be wrong… Either way Konqueror seems to show my blog 100% correctly so either Safari does not 100% same rendering engine or the claim that Safari wont show my site correctly was some weird spam…
Or it could be that the user who made claim is using perhaps older version of Safari or something like that. If that is the case then even though I would be more than willing to fix my site but that commenter really should update his ware…
I will perhaps still try some other version of Safari under Wine as it is like I said with the latest version anyway: The default homepage does load but the browser gets stuck if I try to load anything else - even if starting safari with alternate URL as command line parameter. Weird.
