Added a guide “Installing a package from another distribution” for converting packages between rpm, deb, slp, tgz formats and converting from Solaris pkg to Linux.

I found a plugin for WP to improve my blog. Other Posts from Cat is a WP plugin that “will show the last X posts from the current category at the bottom of every post, or where you manually specify in each post“. Often used feature on blogs and I can recommend this to any WP bloggers who want people to keep browsing the blog after reading a post they came for :)

Today I added a Proramming & web-design links page for related quality links.

I just added a new page, Top Articles list to highlight most interesting pages/posts to keep people from missing them when time passes. Link to it is on top-menu and on right sidebar. Good idea? I might highlight the best of the best with silver & gold stars later.

I wanted to find out how many people viewing my blog use IE (*gasp*) and what about other browsers. Surprisingly the excellent Wordpress.com Stats plugin does not show browser stats so I installed 2nd, small & light, WP-ShortStat plugin that can do just that. As I expected, so far IE users are tiny minority on this blog.

…damn. I just noticed that this blog has been unavailable for at least two days. This was because of a bug in my under-development plugin for Wordpress.

Finally took the step and upgraded to Wordpress 2.7 (released a month ago). Everything seems to look same and function correctly except the admin pages that have gone through massive changes. There are more useful changes & new features but right now I’m good with having upgraded - new features I can learn later.

Interestingly the anti-spam plugin I use (Akismet) left through several spam comments. Unlike most spam, instead of viagra adds only string of random characters was posted. Don’t expect the same poster doing that anymore after “spammifying” the comments :)

Ysterday, Decenber 21, 2008 it was my 29th birthday, so happy birthday for me. seems like I even got a present as the worddpress plugin phpinclude seems to have been a success!

Today I added a subpage on programming here. The purpose is to write guides, provide examples and give out source code for various open source programs / scripts I have made. Previously I have released some of them, but none here. I will, in time, provide them all here, but starting moderately I first added one *nix shell script tool, a directory tree lister.
